- Who We Are
- Who We Serve
- Get Involved
Because of the outpouring of support, we’re super excited to announce that we’ve been able to move into our new space in central Beaverton! We’re still unpacking and getting things set up, but we’re loving the new location which is very accessible for the youth we serve. The youth are very excited, too, and in a few weeks we’ll start a weekly Tuesday afternoon drop-in. Please join us on October 18th for our Open House and Ribbon Cutting by Beaverton Mayor Denny Doyle and the Beaverton Chamber of Commerce (see details below).
As part of expanding our services, youth will be able to access resources (including showers and laundry) at Tuesday drop-in and by appointment on other days. We plan to expand our employment programming and provide youth a safe place to come when they need support. The HomePlate staff and Board are working on a 5-year strategic plan that will help us envision the scope of the opportunities before us in this new location.
We truly could not have done this move without the support of many donors and community supporters. The “Home 4 HomePlate” campaign is close to reaching our goal of $50K by October 8th and we are humbled by the generosity of donors, including sponsors Whole Foods, Arlene Schnitzer and Pacific Continental Bank. Our Encore Fellow Operations Consultant, Buzz Strott, has worked tirelessly for weeks planning the move. Volunteers from the Good Neighbor Project with Westside Community Church spent their Sunday painting and working in the yard to prepare the space. The Beaverton First United Methodist Church has also been working hard to make the space comfortable and attractive. The heavy lifting was donated by two fantastic movers, Graebel Van Lines and Two Men and a Truck. We are grateful to Kaiser Permanente Northwest, Pacific Continental Bank, La-Z-Boy, and Dania for donating wonderful pieces of new or gently used furniture. Individuals have brought by a few special items that have helped make the space feel like home. Thank you!!!
We still need a few important items (see our wish list below) and we would love some more volunteer help to complete a few tasks. In addition, we’ll be looking for ongoing volunteer support to welcome visitors. Please contact Amy@homeplateyouth.org if you would like to volunteer.
