(Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accountability)
The IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accountability) team was developed in the summer of 2017 as a response to wanting to become a more equitable, diverse, and inclusive organization, which is currently made up of staff, volunteers, and board members.
IDEA Team Mission: Create a structure to hold HomePlate* accountable for promoting and upholding diversity, equity, and inclusion.

IDEA Team Vision: Ensure all programs and services are equitable and inclusive in both access and outcomes, so everyone, regardless of a person’s background (race, ethnicity, sex, sexual orientation, religion, and physical/mental disability) feels safe, accepted and valued for who they are.
HomePlate is committed to preserving the dignity, humanity, and uniqueness of each youth (ages 12-24) that we work with on their path to stability. To achieve this, we will:
- strive to ensure that all of our programs and services are equitable in both access and outcomes regardless of a person’s race, ethnicity, faith, culture, language, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation or family status, and other perceived differences,
- operate with the knowledge that certain communities are significantly over-represented among those experiencing homelessness and housing instability in Washington County and that there are disparities in outcomes for members of those communities,
- pursue effective strategies and devote dedicated time and resources at every level of our organization to be responsive to youths’ expressed needs and to address these disparities through high-quality, culturally responsive services.
