Volunteering

There are so many ways to support youth with HomePlate!

We welcome individuals and groups from businesses, churches, or community organizations.

Short Term

  • Large Vehicle Support/Youth Move-In: Have a large truck or vehicle you would be willing to let us use to transport large items for youth move-in’s or between HP’s locations? Let us know!

  • Special Event Volunteer: Help us staff fundraisers, special youth events, community events, etc.! We have several individual events throughout the year that need support. You can volunteer individually or as a group.

  • Group Volunteer Days: Are you part of a community group, work team, or church that is looking to volunteer as a group? Come do a day of service with HomePlate! Work with our Volunteer Coordinator to find a project that best fits your group.

Volunteer Opportunities

Dinner Groups

Sign up to purchase, cook, and serve dinner at our Monday night Beaverton Drop-in and our Thursday night Hillsboro Drop-In! Meals should serve 50 people and groups should provide up to 6 people to cook and serve the meal during drop-in.

The Beaverton kitchen is now open! Sign up below to cook dinner for Beaverton AND Hillsboro!

Long Term

CORE Volunteer: Core volunteers are those that regularly interact with youth in one of our programs listed below. CORE volunteers make a commitment to serve with us for at least 6 months and commit to a regular schedule. All CORE volunteers complete our application, onboarding training, and background check process.

  • Drop-In: Help create a welcoming environment and build relationships with youth during our weekly drop-in hours.

  • Outreach: Get into the community with our Outreach Workers to reach out to youth where they are at and tell them about HomePlate. Outreach volunteers must be able to carry a backpack and be willing to be outdoors in any kind of weather.

  • Employment: Support youth in their job searches and in developing their job skills.

  • Education: Support youth getting their GEDs or going to college with tutoring or helping out with a variety of Life Skills Workshops

  • Housing: Assist in resource compiling and navigation for the youth in our Housing Program. [FULL]

  • Outings: Come on monthly trips with staff and youth!

We are so grateful for the time and energy that each of you give to HP and the youth we serve on a regular basis. We’ve created a Facebook page and a newsletter as a space for us to share appreciations, highlight the amazing work you all do, and get you connected with more volunteer opportunities (and each other) at HomePlate!
